Notary Public London

Apostille and Legalisation

Apostille

At present there are two services provided by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for issuing an Apostille required for documents to be produced overseas.
The "Apostille "attached to a Notarial document, verifies the signature of the Notary Public practising in England and Wales.

Whether a particular documentation requires only to be Apostilled or the additional Consular Legalisation, depends upon whether the country where the document will be produced is a contracting State of the "Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents."

In line with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office services, we are able to offer our clients two services for obtaining the Apostille. The first service is not available to the general public.

  • For urgent same day Apostille issued by the FCO Central office in London:
Documents lodged by 3pm during working days will be legalised and collected on the same day. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office fee per document requiring an Apostille is £75.
  • For less urgent matters 4-5 days Apostille issued by the FCO Milton Keynes office:
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office fee for each document requiring an Apostille is £30.

As a London Notary Public practice we are well positioned to undertake the same day Apostille and Consular Legalisation (if required).
